Daniel’s interest in PropTech derives from his family roots in real estate. Between his immediate family, extended family, and in-laws, he’s seen the pain points and opportunities from many major stakeholder perspectives—builders, developers, brokers, landlords, owners, and investors. His thesis is that Real Estate is the largest asset class in the world, but the most antiquated industry. While funding in the space has picked up over the last few years, he believes we’re still in the very early innings. Daniel began his career at J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank where he built a book of business focused on Silicon Alley Entrepreneurs and Investors. Later, he tried his hand at entrepreneurship by co-founding two companies – one in Wealth Tech (Instrument Capital) and the other in Construction Tech (Soil Connect). He received his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

As a corporate expert turned venture investor, Daniel has a deep understanding for the value early stage technology businesses gain by partnering with multi-national enterprises at an early stage, which he leverages on behalf of the fund's portfolio investments.

Prior to Joule, Daniel spent eight years at the Corporate Executive Board (NYSE: CEB) in Washington, D.C. advising Fortune 1000 Chief Financial Officers on industry best practices. In 2009, he led CEB’s market entry into Israel where he worked with some of the country’s leading corporations.

Daniel Gwak is Managing Partner of Point72 Private Investments, the institutional private investing business of Point72 Asset Management. Daniel Ingevaldson is a General Partner at TechOperators, focusing on cyber security. He has over 20 years of experience protecting some of the world’s biggest organizations from next generation threats, and growing security companies to highly successful exits. Daniel was previously Chief Technology Officer of Easy Solutions, a global market leader in anti-fraud solutions. During his tenure, Easy Solutions doubled its customer count annually until its sale to Cyxtera Technologies in May 2017. Prior to Easy Solutions, Daniel co-founded Endgame in 2008, a TechOperators pioneering company focused on enhancing network defenders’ capabilities by deploying offensive techniques such as active defense and active “hunt” capabilities to discover and evict adversaries.

Daniel Kruchkow is CMO & Head of Digital Strategy for Crush Music, management home to international superstars Sia, Fall Out Boy, Train, Weezer, Panic at the Disco, Travie McCoy and many others. Prior to Crush, Mr. Kruchkow spent over 11 years at Universal Music Group. Most recently he was SVP of UMG's Global Digital Initiatives unitwhere VEVO was born.

Prior to co-founding Waverley Capital, Daniel was a Partner with Globespan Capital Partners. Earlier in his career, Daniel worked for Sevin Rosen Funds and Redpoint Ventures. He also previously held engineering, marketing and strategic investment positions with Intel Corporation.

Mr. Penberthy was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in December 2021.  He had served as Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Rand since 1997. He oversees the Company’s investment activities and takes an active role in the investment process from deal sourcing to fund marketing. Prior to joining RAND, Mr. Penberthy served as Chief Financial Officer for both the Greater Buffalo Partnership (formerly the Chamber of Commerce) and the Greater Buffalo Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Penberthy also worked with the Greater Buffalo Development Foundation and KPMG.

Darren brings over 25 years of experience in developing, executing, and investing in growth strategies for emerging technology companies. Prior to joining Dreamit, Darren was a Board Member and held various operating positions at CIML LLC, a holding company for Channel Intelligence (acquired by Google). Darren also spent over 10 years as a private equity and venture investor at Actua, an investment and holding company for SaaS-based technology companies, where he served as a Managing Director.

Darrin is an investment professional with an extensive background in financial services and B2B. Throughout his 25 year career, he has worked with individual investors, investment advisors and their clients, and institutional (foundations and endowments) clients, with various investment vehicles including mutual funds, separately managed accounts, socially responsible portfolios, and alternative investments. He earned a BA in Economics & Public Management from UMaine and an MBA from Boston College.

Dave has been Founder and Chairman/CEO of 5 companies that have been named to Boston's top-10 Best Places to Work including internet marketplace company EverQuote (NASDAQ:EVER), fin-tech SAAS company Vestmark, and venture-incubator Cogo Labs. He has served on 24 private and public boards and has been a "day 1" CEO 4 times. Dave has a background in AI from the MIT AI lab (now CSAIL) focusing on neural networks and big-data. His first company, DataSage, used neural networks to analyze internet click-stream data to optimize consumer experiences, working closely with Amazon and other first-generation internet companies. DataSage became an early internet "unicorn" in 2000.

Dave joined Insight in 2017 and works with portfolio companies to accelerate growth and scale operations.  Prior to Insight, he worked as a Consultant with Bain & Company in their Boston office and as Strategy & BizOps Manager at Skillshare. At Bain, he focused on growth strategy, M&A, and private equity diligences of enterprise software and consumer internet businesses. At Skillshare, he worked with the executive team on shaping company strategy, scaling operations, and managing investor relations. Dave also worked at Accion Venture Lab, supporting seed stage portfolio companies on issues of product-market fit & growth strategy, and at the World Bank, consulting on social protection and poverty reduction in Swaziland. Originally from Kennett Square, PA, Dave attended the University of Virginia as a Jefferson Scholar and graduated with a BA in Economics and a Master’s of Public Policy.

Dave Flanagan is Vice President and Senior Managing Director of Intel Capital located in Hillsboro, OR. He is a voting member of Intel Capital’s investment committee. He joined Intel Capital in 1999. Dave currently serves as director or observer on the board of Airship, BoomTV, ParkourSC, SiFive, TiBit Communications and 3DGlass Solutions. At nine years old, he started his first job, a paper route for Waterville Morning Sentinel newspaper in Maine. From there he went on to found Thriller Designs in 5th grade and Sounds Unlimited, a mobile DJ service, in 6th grade, where he DJ’d for 10yrs.  After graduating from MIT and working at Oracle for one year, he co-founded Spinner, the 1st internet radio service, in 1995 (acquired by AOL for $320 million in 1999) and Crackle, an internet video platform, in 2004 (acquired by Sony for $65 million in 2006). 

Dave focuses on early to late-stage investments in enterprise and infrastructure. Before joining Norwest, Dave spent 15-years at Comcast Ventures where he was responsible for identifying, executing, and managing new investments with a focus on enterprise software, cybersecurity, and financial services. His notable investments include Aporeto (acquired by Palo Alto Networks), BitSight, Brightside, CTI Towers (acquired by Melody Investment Advisors), DocuSign (NASDAQ: DOCU), EdgeConneX (acquired by EQT), Lendio, Slack (acquired by Salesforce), and Vox Media. Prior to Comcast Ventures, Dave was at Flarion Technologies where he served as a senior business development executive and played a pivotal role in the company’s fundraising activities and eventual acquisition by QUALCOMM for $805 million. He started his career at Lehman Brothers in investment banking, gaining a foundation in finance and advising companies going through strategic transformation.

David Arcara is a Managing Partner at Laconia. An entrepreneur turned investor, David has raised nearly $100 million dollars of angel and venture funding. David’s career spans over two decades in young, high-growth and turnaround media and marketing businesses. Previously, he founded DJA Media (acquired by Clear Channel) and co-founded UGO Networks (acquired by Hearst Corporation). He entered the investing world by founding Rubber Soul Ventures, where he focused on investments in emerging digital technology companies. David is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. No stranger to risk, David has been adventure skiing with his kids for 20 years, getting them started right out of the crib. He is also Laconia’s resident sommelier (after hours only, of course).

David G. DeWalt joined AllegisCyber Capital as a Managing Director in 2017. Dave is a renowned cybersecurity executive, having taken cyber industry leader FireEye public (Chairman & CEO) and served as the CEO of both McAfee and Documentum.

David is excited about helping early-stage founders commercialize innovative technology and research. He loves to dive into technical details, and to help find use cases and product-market fit. Before joining 11.2 Capital, David was a Principal at Osage University Partners (OUP), where he invested in university spinouts and developed relationships with founders working on cutting edge research in machine learning, data, and advanced computing. Before OUP, he was a lead engineer at Lockheed Martin's Advanced Technology Labs (ATL) where he served as principal investigator for DARPA programs applying ML to RF spectrum applications. David is a serial entrepreneur and technologist who started coding at 14, launched his first business at 19, and made his first angel investment before age 30.

As a proven industry leader with a breadth of knowledge in launching and growing businesses in emerging markets, he possesses sound experience in predicting market developments, setting and adjusting strategies, and leading organizations amidst changing market dynamics. Dave was formerly the Chairman & CEO of Witness Systems. During his eight-year tenure, he led the company through a successful IPO (Red Herring #13 in 2000) and to a leading position in the workforce optimization market. Witness grew to nearly $220 million in annual revenue through solid execution and successful acquisitions, with operating margins in the 20% range. The company was sold in the spring of 2007 to Verint for ~ $1.1 billion.

David is a general Partner at Andreessen Horowitz where he focuses on technology investments in financial services. Prior to a16z, David is previously a senior executive in Firmwide Strategy at Goldman Sachs where he helped lead partnerships, new ventures and M&A. He was the Founder and CEO of Bond Street, which aimed to transform small business lending through technology, data and design. Bond Street was acquired by Goldman Sachs in October 2017 as part of the firm’s digital finance business. Previously, David was a venture investor at Spark Capital and a founding associate of Locus Analytics, a start-up asset management firm. David graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Biochemical Sciences.

I love technology and entrepreneurs. I founded Unity many years ago. Now I spend my time worrying about global warming. My background is in programming, university dabbling, creating companies, and helping entrepreneurs. I served as CEO of Unity Technologies since co-founding it in 2003 until October 2014.

David has been active in Asia-Israel businesses since 1990 and in venture capital investments since 1996. David leads Vertex Ventures Israel’s Asian activities, including raising capital for Vertex funds from Asian investors. With his extensive experience in deal-making in Asia, he has also been initiating and facilitating numerous direct investment and business transactions between Vertex’s Asian investors and Israeli companies. Before Vertex, David co-founded IIF, the 1st Israeli VC fund tailored for Japanese corporate investors for investments in Israeli high-tech companies. Prior to co-founding Compound, David spent his entire career leading sales and BD teams for tech companies working alongside engineering and product functions to commercialize the company's products and spearheading monetization. Google brought on David as their second employee in the New York headquarters in 2000 at a time when the company doing just under $3M in revenue. David then spearheaded the company's monetization strategy by co-founding Google's Vertical Markets Group and wiring the regional sales team structure. For eight years, he oversaw cross-functional and cross-business responsibilities, all of which helped him to lead both Google's culture committee and its recruiting initiative and subsequently hire many of the people who lead Google's sales and business teams today.

David is Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics, Head of Samsung Next, an accomplished startup investor, and formerly a corporate attorney at Google. “Growing up, my dad was an entrepreneur and he is an inspiration in many of my career and life choices. He invented the first fully automated fortune cookie machine. I decided to take a different path, and that’s when I realized what betting on yourself means.” David Lee David is a hyper-intelligent, experienced, talented, and accessible man.

David manages VU’s Hong Kong office, focuses on deal sourcing within Asia and investor relations. He has strong network of family offices and institutional investors having lived in worked in Asia for 7+ years.

Prior to VU, he was the Senior Director of Corporate Ventures and Strategy at Axcelis, Inc., a semiconductor company and was Director of International Business Development at Blackboard, Inc., one of the world’s largest education technology companies. Prior to that he was the Manager of Corporate Strategy and M&A at MAXIMUS, Inc., a consulting and operations firm.

Previously, he spent the entirety of his career at Renaissance Technologies, widely recognized as the world’s most successful quantitative hedge fund management company. He helped found the equities trading group at Renaissance, joining the group in its earliest days, playing a lead role in designing and building the trading, simulation, and estimation software.  After a decorated career in quantitative finance, he is using his data science, software development, and statistical modeling expertise to help startups succeed in the global marketplace.

Prior to his current career in venture capital, Mr. Mandel built, operated and exited 4 different successful businesses in the Insurance and Finance industries over a 28-year period.  a very active angel investor. To date, he has invested in over 500 early-stage technology start-ups. an active member of several prominent angels groups, a frequent judge and panelist at start-up pitch events, and is considered a thought leader. 

David was the Co-founder, CEO of PivotDesk - Finding room for growing businesses, and the Co-founder, VP Marketing of OneRiot (Previously Me.dium).

Prior to joining Quona, David was Senior Managing Director at Small Enterprise Assistance Funds (SEAF), where he was a member of the firm’s senior management team and served as the chair of the firm’s Global Investment Committee. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and a Master of Management degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

David co-leads GV’s life science investment team, where his interests include therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, novel care delivery systems, and payer innovation. David has been a hematologist and medical oncologist for over 30 years, and his focus has always been on people and impact.
