Lenny started his VC career in New York at the height of the social and mobile booms where seemingly the entire tech world was chasing the next Instagram or WhatsApp. To him, technology was always about leverage, enabling us to do more with less, to build better, faster, and cheaper, and unlock new applications and services. Fast forward a decade later, and his exploration of cloud computing, DevOps, data infrastructure, and security led me to work with generational founders of companies like Datadog, Hashicorp, and Cockroach Labs.

Prior to a16z, Ben was cofounder and CEO of Opsware (formerly Loudcloud), which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard for $1.6 billion in 2007, and was appointed vice president and general manager of Business Technology Optimization for Software at HP. Earlier, he was vice president and general manager of America Online’s E-commerce Platform division, where he oversaw development of the company’s flagship Shop@AOL service. Previously, Ben ran several product divisions at Netscape Communications. He also served as vice president of Netscape’s widely acclaimed Directory and Security product line. Before joining Netscape in July 1995, he held various senior product marketing positions at Lotus Development Corporation. Ben serves on the board of Anyscale, Caffeine, Databricks, Mayvenn, Medium, NationBuilder, Okta ($OKTA), Sisu, Tanium, TripActions, and UnitedMasters.

Prior to joining a16z, David spent seven years at General Atlantic leading and partnering on numerous consumer internet and enterprise software growth investments, including Airbnb, AppDynamics, Opendoor, Slack, and Uber. Previously, he was an investment associate at FFL Partners and an investment banking analyst for William Blair & Company. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame and earned his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He currently sits on the Advisory Council of the IDEA Center at the University of Notre Dame.

Ashu works with startups across the enterprise stack. He is particularly excited about how machine learning and deep learning are reinventing existing software categories and creating new consumer experiences. And he has invested in AI-enabled business applications (such as marketing technology and HR technology), data platforms, data center infrastructure, security & privacy, as well as online video. Ashu is an early investor in one decacorn (Databricks) and six unicorns (Cohesity, Eightfold, Amperity, Turing, Anyscale, and Alation). He serves on the boards of Anvilogic, Arize, Coefficient, Cohesity, Conviva, Eightfold, Fortanix, Ikigai Labs, Levo, OpsMx, Stacklet, Skyflow, and Turing. 

Pete joined NEA in 2005 and focuses on early-stage enterprise software, services, and systems companies. He is the co-head of NEA’s enterprise software practice group, and serves on several boards for NEA portfolio companies. Prior to NEA, Pete was Senior Director of Strategic Alliances at VMware where he struck the company's initial OEM deals and grew annual sales through OEMs from $0 to $40 million in four years. Pete received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and his BA in Political Economy from the University of California, Berkeley.
