She serves as a Director on the boards of Okapi portfolio companies WiserCare and BioTrace. She is also a Board Observer at OrthAlign.

Shekhar Kirani joined Accel in 2011. Shekhar has over 25 years of experience in business and tech leadership roles across several startups and large companies in the US. As part of Accel, Shekhar focuses on investing in early-stage software and mobile startups that help enterprises. He led investments in ANSR, BrowserStack, CareStack, ChargeBee, Cogoport, FalconX, Freshworks, Zenoti, and several seed-stage companies. Shekhar holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Shelby is an investor at Compound with a focus on Biology and Healthcare. Shelby is an undergraduate in Biochemistry with an engineering minor, an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise and a PhD in Plant Sciences from University of Cambridge (currently awaiting her oral defense). Her research experience spans neuroscience (Serpe Lab, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland), drug discovery (Titz Lab, Helmholtz Institute, Saarbrücken, Germany) and her recent PhD project in microalgae symbioses in the Plant Sciences Department (Smith Lab, University of Cambridge, UK). Shelley has over fifteen years of experience in technology as a software engineer, research scientist, business executive, and venture capitalist. Prior to founding 11.2 Capital, Shelley was formerly EVP of Business Development at Ecoplast Technologies, where she oversaw business development & sales efforts in North America. Previously, Shelley was a Principal at DFJ, where she was actively involved in a number of investments including FeedBurner (acquired by Google for $100M), Flurry (acquired by Yahoo for $240M), PPLive (acquired by Suning for $420M), TicketsNow (acquired by Ticketmaster for $265M), Xfire (acquired by Viacom for $102M), YeePay. Shelley is a techie at heart and holds a BS in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from the University of Missouri, and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently an advisor at Skydeck, ML7 Associate at Creative Destruction Lab, and served on Enigma 2016's program committee.

Sherif El-Halwagy is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of ACE & Company. In addition to leading ACE’s global private equity secondary activity and the group’s MENA focused direct investments, Sherif is a member of ACE’s Executive Committee as well as Investment Committee and is actively involved in its macro asset allocation and theme-driven investments selection. He has worked in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries for over 25 years and invests broadly across healthcare. Steve serves on the Board of Directors of Beam Therapeutics, Genomics plc, Iora Health, Pulmocide, Sana Biotechnology, and SemmaTherapeutics. Prior to joining F-Prime Capital, Steve held various senior management roles in private and public biotechnology and consulting companies. Prior to Corixa, Dr. Gillis was a founder and director of Immunex Corp., the most successful venture-funded biotech company in the state of Washington. From 1981 until his departure in 1994, he served as Immunex’s Director of Research and Development, Chief Scientific Officer, and as CEO of Immunex’s R&D subsidiary. Dr. Gillis was interim CEO of Immunex Corp. following its majority purchase by American Cyanamid Co. and remained a member of the board until 1997. Amgen, Inc. acquired Immunex in 2002. Dr. Gillis is an immunologist by training with over 300 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of molecular and tumor immunology. He is credited as being a pioneer in the field of cytokines and cytokine receptors, directing the development of multiple marketed products including Leukine, (GM-CSF), Prokine (IL-2) and Enbrel (soluble TNF receptor-Fc fusion protein) as well as the regulatory approval of Bexxar (radiolabeled anti-CD20). Dr. Gillis received a B.A. from Williams College and a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College.

Back in 2009, Steve began angel investing in startups while also building his own products in the consumer social space the first company was Uber, where he was a founding advisor and early investor. Fast forward to 2014, Steve started Kindred Ventures originally as a solo angel fund with a dozen prior angel investments and the passion to help other founders. Since then, Steve and Kanyi have partnered to design and build a new seed venture capital platform which both invests and forms startups. Steve focuses his investment and formation work in crypto/web3, marketplaces, connected hardware/software, developer tools, and sustainability/climate-tech, and has backed over 11 unicorn companies and projects with a total market capitalization over $150B, including Coinbase, Uber, DYDX Protocol, Mobilecoin, Mina Protocol, Braintrust, Nervos Network, Postmates, Poshmark, Color Health, Zymergen and Tonal.

Steve Jurvetson is an early-stage venture capitalist with a focus on founder-led, mission-driven companies at the cutting edge of disruptive technology and new industry formation.  Steve led founding investments in several companies that had successful IPOs and others that were billion-dollar acquisitions, representing $1 trillion of aggregate value creation. Some of those early VC investments include Planet Labs, SpaceX and Tesla.

Prior to Origin’s start in 1999, Steve spent 10 years at Quill Corporation, his family’s office products business. His primary focus now is on driving research around a condition called Misophonia.
